Obama writes to me!

This afternoon, I received an e-mail from the most-watched person on earth right now - Barack Obama, seen here with his wife as he was about to deliver his historic speech claiming victory over Hilary Clinton. (For the record, at the time of my writing Clinton has NOT conceded defeat, although she congratulated Obama.)

Obama's e-mail reads as follows:-

(My Real Name) -

I am about to take the stage in St Paul and announce that we have won the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

It's been a long journey, and we should all pause to thank Hillary Clinton, who made history in this campaign. Our party and our country are better off because of her.

I want to make sure you understand what's ahead of us. Earlier tonight, John McCain outlined a vision of America that is very different from ours - a vision that continues the disastrous policies of George W. Bush.

But this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past and bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the country we love.

It is going to take hard work, but thanks to you and millions of other donors and volunteers, no one has ever been prepared for such a challenge.

Thank you for everything you have done to get us here. Let us keep making history.

Barack

My Say:-

Can't help but noticed that Obama and Clinton thanked or congratulated each other in their final speeches before who clinches the nomination becomes official. How nice if our politicians in Malaysia in general and Sabah in particular are as matured!

Both Obama and Clinton also seem to be conciliatory towards each other in their speeches, despite a bitter long-running nationwide battle for the nomination that began early this year.

Could that be a sign that Clinton, despite earlier signs to the contrary, would be willing to be Obama's running mate, if offered, after all? Or vice versa?

To me, a Obama-Clinton combination would be strongest and the best bet to take on McCain and whoever. After all, they both make history - Obama will be the first African-American to run for the US Presidency while Clinton will be the first woman Vice President and possibly eventually President. Americans should have more reasons to vote for a Obama-Clinton team rather than McCain-Whoever.

Once again, congratulations Obama. You are Asians' Hero too.
